Let’s go!

What is Wincher?

Wincher is a rank tracker and keyword research tool that helps you keep an eye on how your content is performing on Google’s search engine results page (SERP).

With this rank tracking tool, you can create a keyword group, monitor your traffic, and do expert-level keyword research.

However, it’s Wincher’s rank tracking dashboard that makes this keyword tracking tool really stand out.

Wincher has an intuitive dashboard that’ll make any marketer feel like they’re in their very own mission control center.

What do we mean?
Wincher’s dashboard can give you all the ranking data you need at a glance. Here, you’ll see crucial metrics like estimated traffic volume, average rank, and ranking changes.

Additionally, the tool is available as a WordPress plugin. This plugin also offers keyword tracking and powerful ranking data like search volume and average traffic value.

Now, let’s find out why this keyword tracking tool is such a popular platform.

5 Wonderful Things You Can Do with Wincher

Here are five awesome things you can do with this rank tracking tool:

1. Discover New Target Keywords

We got started with Wincher’s free trial by creating a Wincher account and entering our email address.
Once that was done, we entered a website that we wanted to analyze.

Here, we:

  • Entered a popular interior design blog, Apartment Therapy, as our target website.
  • Selected Google.com as our search engine.
  • Selected English as our target language.
  • Selected the US as our target country.

Once that was all set up, we went to the dashboard and hit the “Keyword Research” tab to get started with Wincher’s keyword research tool.

Here’s the Keyword Research report for Apartment Therapy:

The keyword research tool in Wincher

The above report gave us an auto-generated list of keywords based on our website, niche, and published content.

And we got valuable metrics alongside these keyword suggestions:

  • Position: Shows you where in the search results your website was found.
  • Traffic: The estimated number of clicks/month.
  • Volume: The number of searches per month for a particular keyword.
  • Competition: Gives you an idea about the level of competition surrounding Google Adword campaigns for a particular keyword.
  • CPC: Cost-per-click is an estimate of the amount you’ll have to pay a search engine (in this case, Google.com) every time someone clicks on your Google Ad.

Next, we hit the “Related keywords” tab to find some interesting long-tail keywords related to our industry, interior design.

Wincher’s keyword research tool then prompted us to enter a seed keyword, so we entered “scatter cushions.” Here’s the report we got:

A Wincher keyword report for the search term "scatter cushions"

The above report has given us some interesting related keywords for the seed keyword “scatter cushions.”

We know that our website currently doesn’t rank for these related keywords since no data appears in the Position column. Now, we can use these keywords for content generation.

Next, we’ll explain the other two tabs, “Search Console” and “Hidden.”

If you select Search Console, the Wincher tool will import all your keyword data from Google Search Console. And the Hidden tab shows you all the related keywords that you’ve chosen to hide.

Another really cool feature here is the keyword grouping tool. This feature lets you create a keyword group for easy filtering and aggregated group-level data.

We decided to try out the keyword grouping feature by making a ‘Sofas’ keyword group with the following target keywords:

Now, we can view the keyword data for our entire group:

2. Track Your Keyword Rankings

Discovering new keyword ideas and creating a content cluster based on those target keywords is just the first step.

If you want to see if your SEO efforts are paying off, you’ll need to use keyword tracking to keep an eye on how that content is performing in Google’s SERP.

Fortunately, Wincher has a built-in rank tracker that can help you monitor your ranking progress. This way, you won’t react like this when there’s a sudden drop in a keyword ranking:

To get this data, click on the “Keywords” tab. Next, you’ll see that Wincher automatically pulls keywords from your previously published content and lets you add additional keywords.

Here’s the Keywords report for Apartment Therapy:

This report gives us a dashboard filled with ranking data points like:

  • Position changes: The number of positions gained and lost per day. The “31” shows the total number of positions lost and gained.
  • Average position: The average rank for the relevant keywords.
  • Traffic: The average number of clicks per month. This value is calculated by multiplying search volume by click-through rate (CTR).
  • First positions: The number of different keywords that are ranking in position one. On the right, you’ll see your target site’s rank distribution data.

And below these points, we can see the following:

  • Keyword: The specific keyword the tool is tracking.
  • Features: Shows you which special SERP features were present in the search results. If the icon is highlighted, your website appeared in the featured snippet.
  • Position: Your target site’s current position for a specific keyword. Alongside the position is the degree of change.
  • Search volume: The average number of searches for a particular keyword per month.
  • Best page: Your target site’s best page for the particular keyword.
  • Updated: The last time the data was updated.

You can also opt for daily ranking updates and in-app or email notifications for special events. For example, when your keyword performance improves drastically or when you overtake a competitor!

3. Stay Ahead of Your Biggest Rivals

Staying ahead of your competitors is crucial if you don’t want your website to fall through the SEO cracks.

Fortunately, the tool lets you monitor the keyword ranking data of your competitors and compare them with your own. This way, you can figure out how to outrank competitors.

To get started, click on the “Competitors” tab on the left.
Next, the Wincher tool will prompt you to add keyword competitors. So, we added three Apartment Therapy competitors:

This Competitor Analysis report shows you the following:

  • You and your competitors’ average ranking position over time
  • You and your competitors’ traffic and ranking distribution for the keywords you entered into the tool.

Further down the report, you’ll also see your and your competitors’ exact rankings for every keyword you decided to track:

If you find that one of your competitor’s pieces of content is ranking higher than your site’s content, you can visit their website and view their content by clicking on the rank number.

This way, you can figure out why they’re ranking higher and replicate their content strategy.

4. Use Annotations to Track SEO Changes

This rank tracker lets you add annotations to indicate specific changes made to your SEO strategy and website.

To add one, simply click on the “Annotations” tab on the left.

Next, the Add annotation window will appear. We added an annotation, “our added annotation,” and selected a few relevant keywords for the annotation. We also chose a specific date, October 20, 2021:

The annotations you add will be found on the Keyword Position graphs in the Keywords tab. For example, here’s the Keyword Position graph and annotation for “Sofa Covers.”

These annotations can also be seen by your entire team. This way, your entire team is kept in the loop, and you won’t have to explain things over and over again.

5. Customize SEO Reports

Ever downloaded a report filled with data you don’t need?

Well, say goodbye to that because this tool lets you customize and white-label reports to your heart’s content!

Yep, that’s right – Wincher is a white label reporting platform that lets you create automated and manual reports. You can also decide what data points the report should contain and add custom branding to your reports (only available in the Business plan).

You can create a report by clicking on the Reports tab on the left.

Next, you’ll see a “Create report” window pop up:

a pop-up window showing how to set up report content and keyword table in Wincher

This pop-up window lets you choose what content you want to display in the report and how information should appear in the Keyword Table.

And further down, you’ll get to select a few Report Settings:

You can choose the following:

  • Who receives these reports via email.
  • The data period for each report.
  • What keyword data you want the report to show.
  • The language of the report.
  • How often you want clients or team members to receive these reports via email. This way, you won’t have to generate reports in a panic every single time a client asks for one…

Additionally, you can white-label your daily reports by adding your logo and a custom note. This way, you can send professional reports to your clients.

But before you go ahead and sign up for a Wincher account, let’s find out if you’ll be signing up for any serious limitations.

2 Limitations of Using Wincher

Here are two significant drawbacks of using this rank tracking tool:

1. Limited to Google Rank Tracking

Unlike some rank trackers, Wincher doesn’t offer keyword rank data for multiple search engines like Bing and Yahoo.

As a result, you’re limited to data from just one search engine – Google.

However, there’s a lot you can do with Google rankings data.
And on top of that, this rank tracker offers ranking data from over 130 Google offerings like Google Shopping and Google News.

2. The WordPress Plugin is Limited

The Wincher WordPress Plugin helps WordPress users get a grip on their keyword rankings.

However, you’re limited to 10 tracked keywords and seven days of keyword rank history when using the plugin.
Feel like we’ve wrecked your dreams of using this Wincher plugin?

Did we mention that the Wincher Plugin is completely free and that you get automatic keyword suggestions once you’ve installed it?

On top of that, the plugin also provides essential keyword metrics like average position and search volume. And you’ll get daily ranking updates via an email alert.

Now, that sounds like a dream!

Dreaming about a Wincher review that’ll cover some alternative rank tracker tools?
Next, we’ll cover two other rank tracking tools that might win you over.

Top 2 Wincher Alternatives

Here are the top two Wincher alternatives that might suit your SEO needs:

1. SE Ranking

SE Ranking is a keyword rank tracker with traffic analysis, keyword grouping, and keyword research features. You can use the built-in keyword tracker to monitor different keywords and keep an eye on your average position.

On top of that, you can also use the tool’s on-page SEO checker to get rid of broken backlinks and boost your online performance.

This rank tracking tool is really awesome because it uses artificial intelligence (AI) to discover which paid ads and organic search terms your competitor is targeting in their SEO campaign.

On the downside, the tool has limited local rank tracking data. So, SE Ranking might not be the best solution for SEO agencies that want to prioritize local SEO strategies.

2. AgencyAnalytics

AgencyAnalytics is also a keyword rank tracker that can help you monitor ranking changes, build and schedule SEO progress reports, and keep an eye on your site’s traffic.

And similar to Wincher’s dashboard, this tool has a comprehensive dashboard that gives you a bird’s eye view of your Google Ads cost, social media engagement, and ranking progress.

The SEO platform also integrates with powerful keyword tools like Google Analytics and Ahrefs.

However, active users have noticed that you can’t really customize imported data with this rank tracking tool.
