Scoro allows you to see your work with multiple Project views:

  • Project list: Provides an instant view of your entire Project portfolio and lets you filter information, view Project Status, and more at a glance.

3. Tasks & Subtasks

Create New Tasks or Modify existing ones to manage your work efficiently in Scoro. 

To make your Tasks more detailed, you can add:

If you want to create Subtasks in Scoro, you can do that by adding a Time entry under each Task. This will break down your Tasks into smaller Subtasks, which can be used to track time.

You can find Tasks in your Project Insight Work List. Each Task houses information essential for its completion, such as:

A Task can have multiple Predecessor and Successor Tasks. This decides the order in which your team must tackle them and automatically calculates the Project timeline.

Each parent task is known as a Summary Task in Project Insight. These can be split into smaller to-dos in the form of a Child Task.

4. Statuses

a. Scoro

Scoro’s Status feature allows you to track the progress of your Tasks and categorize them based on their current stage in the workflow. 

You can also set custom Statuses for your Projects if you have a Pro or Ultimate membership. But if you’re an Essential Plan user, you can only rename the default system Statuses.

These default Statuses are:

  • Not started
  • In development 
  • Maintenance 
  • Cancelled 
  • Completed
  • Fully delivered 
  • Archived

b. Project Insight

Choose from one of the following default Statuses to indicate Task progress in Project Insight:

  • Not Started
  • Started 
  • In-Progress

Besides these, you can add a column for Percent Complete that lets users indicate progress with percentages the Admin has set in a drop-down. 

5. Checklists

a. Scoro

Scoro doesn’t offer a checklist feature.

b. Project Insight

Project Insight doesn’t offer any native checklist feature.

6. Task Templates

a. Scoro

In Scoro, the Task bundle and Recurring task feature acts as a Task template to help you save time while creating New Tasks. 

Task bundles act as a template for a predefined set of Tasks that can be used for multiple Projects or Contacts, whereas Recurring task templates help schedule routine Tasks that need to be done daily, weekly, or monthly. 

Each Task template can contain:

  • Title
  • Planned duration
  • Billable time 
  • Timeframe

b. Project Insight

Task templates exist as part of Project Templates in Project Insight.

If you wish to create a Task via a Template, you must access a Project Template and select the particular Task you want to recreate.

 

7. Assignees

a. Scoro

Scoro lets you Assign work to individuals and team members based on their capacity and skills. 

You can divide Tasks among multiple team members to make them manageable and allow users to log their work time for the Task.

When a New Task is added, it gets assigned to its creator by default. But you can modify it or leave it unassigned.

b. Project Insight

You can assign an entire Project to team member(s), which will end up assigning them all the Tasks within it too. You could also assign single Tasks to individuals or multiple team members.

8. Priorities

a. Scoro

In Scoro, you can add Task priorities using color-coded symbols:

  • High priority is marked with a red check mark symbol.
  • Medium priority with a yellow check mark symbol.
  • Low priority with a blue check mark symbol

b. Project Insight

While you cannot add Priorities to individual Tasks in Project Insight, you can do this for Projects and Issues.

Choose from the default High, Medium, and Low priority levels for your Projects and Issues. 

9. Automations

Scoro’s Automation and Triggers feature lets you automate your workflows to reduce the time you spend on repetitive tasks. 

You can create Automations using the logic of “When this happens, and these conditions apply, then do that.” 

You also get the option to either create new custom Automation rules for your Tasks or use the existing templates to get started.

When you add due dates to Tasks in Scoro, they will be organized in the order they need to be completed based on their Due Dates.

b. Project Insight

Project Insight uses an Intelligent Scheduling system to calculate due dates. 

This means that once you set the start date for a Project, Project Insight automatically calculates and sets all start and end dates for Tasks within it.

Additionally, if you add a start date and estimated number of Duration (in workdays) and Work Hours a Task is estimated to take (or allotted), Project Insight adds all due dates automatically. This shifts dynamically as you move around dates and hours for its preceding and succeeding Tasks. 

2. Time Estimates

a. Scoro

Scoro’s Estimate feature helps plan and use time efficiently in Projects. The Progress bar in your Project list shows how much time your team has used compared to the Estimate. 

If you’ve used or planned more time than expected for the Project, the Progress bar turns red, indicating that the Project needs attention.

b. Project Insight

Every Project in Project Insight has Target settings you can edit. This page will allow you to update the estimated hours for the Project in the Target Budget Hours field. 

On a Task level, you can add Duration (in workdays) and Work Hours in separate columns of the Work List. 

3. Time Tracking

a. Scoro

Time-tracking features in Scoro provide detailed insights into time spent on Tasks and Projects, thereby enhancing productivity. 

In Scoro, you can track time using:

  • Time tracker: Start the automatic Time Tracker to track time for any Task or Time entry you’re working on from the Task list.
  • Timesheets: Use the Timesheets to log time retrospectively for larger Tasks or Tasks you didn’t track in real time.
  • Time entries: Manually log the time you spent or will take to complete a Subtask.
  • Automatic tracking for Calendar events: Track time for Calendar events automatically based on your Calendar data.

b. Project Insight

Enter time used per Task by:

  • Directly adding worked hours on a specific Task 
  • Editing a grid containing all Tasks you’ve worked on
  • Starting a Timer on each Task while you work on it

You can give each Milestone a Name, set the Start and End dates, or rearrange the Milestones using the drag-and-drop options. 

Once you have added the Milestones, they can be viewed and tracked in the Gantt charts.

b. Project Insight

Project Insight doesn’t offer any native features for goal tracking.

You can designate a certain Task as Milestones, denoting their importance in the Work List. Project Insight will give Milestone Tasks diamond icons to help them stand out. 

2. Dashboards

a. Scoro

The Dashboard in Scoro allows you to:

  • Add Widgets such as a list of Active projects or details about your clients.
  • Display numerical data such as Project costs or unpaid Invoices using Result metrics.
  • Use Ratio metrics to calculate ratios between two results.

You can customize your Dashboard by rearranging and resizing the Dashlets (dashboard elements), which include widgets, numerical data, and other metrics presented via horizontal and vertical boxes, through simple drag-and-drop actions to suit your layout preferences.

You can also create multiple Dashboards or modify existing ones based on your requirements.

Every Project Insight user can access a central Dashboard that contains their active and upcoming Tasks.

A Project Manager can configure this to include key Project details and customize it to include any information they want to access instantly. These could include Tile components, such as:

Busy project managers, especially in bigger teams, will relish the extremely customizable Page Display Options and its bulk edits functionality.

What you might miss, though, is a slightly easier, more visual interface.

New users, especially those without a background in project management, could be put off by Project Insight’s complexity.

For example, while the Work List can be customized, it could benefit from a few standard (default) views that users can deploy from the get-go.

Additionally, Intelligent Scheduling doesn’t let users manually set timelines for their own Tasks without changing the entire project’s timeline. This works out great for project managers who need complete oversight and control of the Work List but may feel restrictive to team members working on smaller Tasks.

However, if your project has complex (and hyper-specific) requirements, Project Insight’s steep learning curve may be worth the ride!
