Reduced cart abandonment by 6% by targeting inactive users with proprietary software
The Problem
A mid-sized F&B company faced high cart abandonment rates — with 63% of users abandoning carts before completing the purchase.
What We Noticed
The highest drop-off was on cart pages, where users saw their order total wasn’t high enough to qualify for free shipping.
Exit surveys suggested users hesitated to complete their purchase since they didn’t want to pay the shipping cost, regardless of the amount. These users typically became inactive on the site before abandoning their cart.
What We Did
We hypothesised that users were abandoning because they couldn’t decide whether the products were worth the added shipping cost.
Our solution?
Help them reach the free shipping threshold.
Using proprietary AI-enabled opt-ins, we recommended relevant products based on items already in the cart and the current total — cross-sells that complemented their existing selections and pushed them over the free shipping minimum.

Outcomes
Within 3 weeks of implementing the opt-ins, we saw:

Cart abandonment dropped from 63% to 57% (a 6% reduction)

Revenue gained from abandoned carts increased by 14.7%

Average order value increased by 7%
